Good news, and it's short: if you got Borderlands 2 free from the Epic Store, Gibbed works exactly the same as it does for Steam. There's no special "Epic mode," no extra step, no catch. The only thing worth knowing is where Epic tucks the save — and that you can shuttle saves between Steam and Epic freely.
- Epic and Steam are the same PC build — identical save format.
- Same folder, same path; open with platform PC in Gibbed.
- You can copy saves between Steam and Epic and they just load.
It's just the PC version
The Epic release of Borderlands 2 is the same game as the Steam one — the launcher differs, the save data doesn't. There's nothing for Gibbed to handle differently: no encryption to crack, no console wrapper, no fork required. If you've read the main guide, you already know how to do this; just point Gibbed at the Epic save folder instead of the Steam one.
Where Epic saves live
Same place as Steam, under your Documents:
The <id> subfolder is named after your account identifier — it'll be a different number than your Steam one, but the structure is identical. If you've played both versions, you may even see two numbered folders side by side; the Epic one is whichever has your recent Epic playtime. Full path details and the backup routine are in where Borderlands 2 keeps your saves.
In Gibbed, the platform is PC
When you open the save, leave the platform on PC. There's no "Epic" option because the Epic version is the PC version as far as the save format is concerned. Same as Steam, same as you'd expect.
Moving a save between Steam and Epic
Because the format is identical, you can move a character from one storefront to the other by hand. Copy the save files — profile.bin and your SaveXXXX.sav — from the source version's id folder into the destination version's id folder, and the game loads them. Handy if you bought it on Steam years ago and grabbed the free Epic copy, or vice versa.
Drop the files into the destination account's existing id folder rather than recreating the old number. And back up whatever's already there first — same habit as any edit.
